When Goodbyes Spark New Beginnings

This post captures an unforgettable day—an experience of simple yet profound moments shared with a friend, AkM, on the final day of a brief but memorable campus program. These are the moments that remind us how friendship can grow in the quiet spaces between words and in small gestures that linger long after goodbye. As you read, you’ll journey through snapshots of our last hours together: shared glances, silent walks, and conversations that became the foundation of a friendship I hadn’t expected to find. The Last Day’s Bittersweet Start It was only my second day on campus, but it was also the last, making each moment feel fleeting and intense. The previous night’s walk with AkM lingered in my mind, refusing to let me sleep. I tossed and turned, missing my own pillow back home. I tried to make a makeshift pillow with a pair of jeans and a towel, but nothing worked. By sunrise, I gave up, reaching for my phone to check if AkM was awake. Her “last seen” was disabled, a little detail tha...

When the Unexpected Happens: A Walk, A Conversation, A Connection

Sometimes, we do things that leave us wondering why we did them in the first place. If they turn out well, we’re just eternally grateful they happened. That’s exactly what I felt on the night of March 9th. I met AkM in person for the first time on campus and felt an overwhelming urge to get to know her better. Later that night, despite the cold, a headache, hunger, and multiple attempts to talk to her throughout the day, I couldn’t shake the desire to connect more. After returning from the pub, on a whim, I sent ...

Capturing Life's Beautiful Experiences

Welcome to Thoughtful Drift ! Everything in life, even the most random things, has a reason or an inspiration, and the start of this blog is no exception. A random discovery of an old self-note and sharing it with someone very dear to me (let's just call her AkM, I will write so much about her soon) sparked the thought of documenting the thoughts that keep emerging and the life experiences I go through.  I’m writing this in October 2024 but will post it back to March 2024, as it was in March that I met this beautiful person. I don’t want to miss the opportunity to share the most amazing moments of the last seven months and some of life's most beautiful experiences. As I start on this blog dedicated to self-expression and reflection, I’d like to share the thoughts behind its name and what you can expect as I begin to fill the posts with moments from my life. Why “ThoughtfulDrift”? The name ThoughtfulDrift captures the the spirit of what this space is going to be all about - thou...
